Following a joint effort by ten National Scout Associations of Southern
Africa to mark the World Aids Day, the participating Associations have
started reporting on their day's activities.

The Angola Scout Association marked the day through activities in the
cities and villages, as well as at the capital city Luanda. The activities
were a joint programme with the Ministry of Health and other agencies
and organizations in the country.

| Inauguration of Vukile Mehana as Chief ScoutThe Reverend Vukile Charles Mehana was inaugurated as the new Chief Scout of the South African Scout Association at a ceremony at St George's Cathedral in Cape Town on Saturday 18 June 2005. The ceremony included cabinet ministers, ambassadors, members of parliament, provincial, religious, business and community leaders, Scouts and friends of the South African Scout Association.

In the rightmost photo, he shakes hands with the outgoing Chief Scout, Nkwenkwe Nkomo, who said "We are pleased with the progress Scouting has made in South Africa and with the steps that are being taken to make Scouting accessible to more young girls and boys. The new Chief Scout now faces the challenge of ensuring that a meaningful difference is made in the lives of all young people in this magnificent country."
